Client Spotlight | Brand Photography & Why It's Important with EGC client Kim Roe

Kim Roe is made of pure sunshine and her energy is simply contagious. You can’t help but smile and laugh every second that she’s around and I was so lucky to call Kim a client for many months and to also call her my friend.  I absolutely loved getting to know Kim during our time working together. She is full of heart and love for small businesses, she encourages everyone she meets, and she has kindness and compassion that shows in every single thing she does.

I met Kim at a Digital Hustle Tribe event, she was the sponsor and I was on the panel talking about all things business.  Kim wanted to elevate her online presence with the goal of growing her local insurance business, and I had SO many ideas. I don’t think I stopped throwing ideas at her the entire time we were talking.  Luckily, she enjoyed that kind of passion and wanted to keep talking so we set up a meeting to dive a little deeper.

Fast forward a few weeks and a couple of meetings later we realized that Kim’s passion really took off when she was showing love to the local community of business owners that she served every single day.  That’s when Champion of the Go-Getters was created.  Kim’s goal was to showcase the local business owner, the story behind their success, and what makes them so special.  We had so much fun designing her website, planning content and putting the pieces of her new business plan together.  There were countless text messages, hours on the phone, and many weekend hours spent planning and chatting over chips and queso and margaritas.

The Photo Shoot

To finish setting up her website, social media content calendar, and other business elements, we needed to get Kim set up with a photo shoot that focused on her business goals.  Often my clients have one headshot, lots of family photos, and very few photos of what life looks like in the office.  The problem with this is that we are a visual world now with social media and blogging. Customers and clients want to see what we’re up to behind the scenes and every single day.  That’s where a really solid branding photo shoot comes into the strategy.

Kim was excited to work with Autumn Theodore, a local Columbus photographer who focuses on business shoots and a dear friend of Kim’s.  Once the client decides on a date/time and a photographer I get to work planning all of the details down to location, what type of photos we need, and which photos could be fun if we have time plus a lot of other smaller details that the average business owner just doesn’t think of.

Because Kim’s goals included celebrating local businesses we really let that shine in every photo.  Outfit choices were picked with this mind, the balloons we used were bought locally, and the location was a local women-owned business that was near and dear to Kim’s heart.

On the day of the shoot, I made sure every detail was covered so Kim could just enjoy her day. This was her time to shine and she needed to take the stress away by allowing me to handle all of the small details.  I helped the makeup artist set up, I would run ahead to the next photo location to get it prepped while Kim and Autumn were finishing up a particular shot, I had all of the outfits in order of when Kim needed to be wearing them, and I cleaned up after it was over so Kim could go enjoy her fresh blowout and makeup application.

You can browse the photos below and hear a little more about why we picked those items to highlight.
